What a lovely Saturday night it is. The weather keeps getting nicer and cooler. Love it. If you are having a movie night indoors with the cooler weather outside, you should definitely take the time to try my homemade kettle corn popcorn. It is a sweet and salty treat that takes under 10 minutes to make. After making my own popcorn, I am never buying store bought popcorn again! Promise you won’t regret it. 😉
You will need:
1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
1/4 Cup Sugar
1/2 Cup White Popcorn Kernels
1 tsp of Fine Salt
*A large pot with a tight fitting lid. I used my large noodle pot.
Let’s get started!
I set my stove top burner to medium heat. Place your pan on the burner and add the oil. Drop a few kernels (3-4) in the oil and cover with the tight fitting lid.
Once all the kernels have popped you will know that the oil is at the correct temperature. Add quickly, the rest of the kernels and the sugar. Mix thoroughly to break up any lumps in the sugar, and place the lid back on.

Shake the pot vigorously every few seconds. If you do not, the popcorn will burn. Pretty soon the kernels will start popping rapidly. Keep shaking the pot until the popping slows, roughly about 2-3 minutes from start to finish.
Once the popping has stopped, carefully remove the lid and pour into a large bowl. Sprinkle the salt over the popcorn and stir to coat the popcorn.
And there you have homemade kettle corn, best when it’s hot and fresh. Enjoy!
