I have never cooked / baked with self rising flour before and I love it! This self rising flour is absolutely amazing. I made pancakes with it the other day (Recipe Here) and they turned out so fluffy! I also used the self rising flour in this beer bread recipe. I definitely give the flour high marks in my book. 🙂
*Note: self-rising flour does not replace yeast; instead it replaces the need to add leavening (baking powder) to your recipe.
King Arthur Flour 5lb bag – $5.95 (in the local HEB it is about $3.50)
Simple Beer Bread
You will need:
3 Cups Self Rising Flour
3 Tbl Sugar
12 oz. Beer (I used a dark beer)
Butter for spreading
Let’s get started:
Pre heat the oven to 375 F.
Blend together all the ingredients in a medium bowl, making sure there aren’t any lumps.
Pour into a greased 9x5x3 bread loaf pan. Bake for 45-60 minutes, depending on how brown you want it. Mine took about 50 minutes.
Slice, butter, serve and enjoy!
