Kaurina’s Kulfi Ice Cream Bars

Happy Holidays Everyone!

I hope everyone enjoyed your quality time with family and friends. I spent my Thanksgiving at my kids’ grandmother’s house feasting on a wonderful spread. We had all the traditional things; turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, shells and cheese, cranberry jelly and plenty of desserts.

I have a new product that I have reviewed for you all, Kaurina’s Kulfi. What is Kaurina’s Kulfi you ask? It is a traditional style ice cream bar packed full of flavor while low in calories. I hope I have your attention now.

Some facts about Kaurina’s Kulfi:

  • Low in calories, sugar and fat
  • 80 calories, 7 grams of sugar per bar
  • No eggs
  • No preservatives
  • Gluten free

The package I reviewed was the party pack with pistachio almond, mango and Malai (Cardamom cream) flavors. This package contained 12 bars with 4 of each flavor. These bars are a snack size, so they are enough to curb that sweet craving of yours but not too much to be too filling. The texture is very thick and creamy, definitely unlike any other ice cream bar out there.

Pistachio Almond – boasting a typical pistachio green color, this bar has a hint of pistachio flavor and almond but the cardamom in it stood out to me.

Malai (Cardamom cream) – In this bar the cardamom definitely took front and center. If you’ve never had cardamom before, I would say it is close to a nutmeg flavor (to my taste buds).

Mango – Mango was very fruity and definitely my favorite of the three. It had a strong mango flavor but was still a creamy ice cream treat that was not tart.

Chocolate Chip Cookies


Alright everyone, we have had a few savory recipes posted, time for something sweet! I will say that my absolute favorite cookie of all time is, the chocolate chip cookie. That is saying quite a bit since I have made, or had so many different cookies. For most of my baking needs, anything that requires vanilla extract, I used white Mexican vanilla. Everyone has their preference of different vanilla extracts and vanilla beans, but this one almost has a nutty flavor to it. I highly recommend switching or at least trying it. I also use salted butter, not margarine. Believe me it DOES make a difference!


You will need:

2 1/4 Cup All Purpose Flour

1 tsp Baking Soda

1 Cup (2 sticks) Butter, softened

3/4 Cup packed Dark Brown Sugar

2 Eggs

1/2 tsp Salt

3/4 Cup White Sugar

1 tsp Vanilla Extract (I use white vanilla)

2 Cups Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips

Let’s get started!


Heat the oven to 375 F. While preheating, cream the butter and sugars. Add the additional wet ingredients. Once mixed well, add the dry ingredients. Making sure there are no clumps in the mixture, fold in the chocolate chips.


Drop by rounded teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet, or in my case, a heated stone from Pampered Chef. I would suggest purchasing a baking stone if you have the funds. It cooks the cookie thoroughly and browns the bottom nicely.

Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned on top. Cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack for complete cooling. Will make 3-5 dozen cookies (Yes, really that many!)
