March Goodies Box – “Breakfast”

Okay so I am a little late on posting the review for this subscription box but better late than never.  (Although my boss would disagree with that statement!)  Today we have a review for Goodies Box Co., a great company for bloggers and foodies alike. If you are not familiar with subscription boxes, you pay a set fee a month and then you receive monthly boxes in the mail. You would be surprised what all different kinds of subscription boxes are out there, food, make up, liquor, pet supplies, baby supplies. It is really fascinating what all you can find out there on the internet!

Goodies Box Co. has a monthly fee of $7 and includes 5-8 trial-sized snacks and treats enabling you to discover your favorite new goodies. Goodies box currently only delivers to the Continental United States, but they do ship to APO addresses. I love trying new things so this box of monthly goodies is perfect for me, and it is nice to have that little surprise on your doorstep. I will say, I was a little disappointed that some things came in “trial size” but for $7 a month and for so many items it was definitely worth it.

Okay so let’s get to the Goodies received in March’s box:

Alo Water – Watermelon & Peach

$11.94 / pack of 6

I will be honest, I was a little nervous about the “floaters” in the drink. (Cringe) No worries though, they are just little pieces of Aloe meat. I drank this tasty drink so fast that I barely noticed them. The watermelon flavor was more prominent than the peach flavor, to me. But overall, a very refreshing and energizing tasty drink. I would definitely recommend this to anyone!

Ola! – Hand baked Granola

$5.99 / 9 oz bag

Personally, I have only eaten granola mixed in with yogurt. This granola is so delicious I wanted to eat it by the handful! Sweetened with Maple Syrup, vanilla and cinnamon, definitely makes for a great addition to your breakfast!

 photo DSC_0141_zps0db3cbc2.jpg
Rickland Orchards – Greek Yogurt Coated Granola Bar

$6.49 / Pack of 5

This bar was delicious and filling. I received Cranberry Almond and it was so tasty! Definitely a great snack for the morning to perk you up!

 photo DSC_0139_zps039d91a4.jpg
BelVita – Cinnamon Brown Sugar Breakfast Biscuits

$3.99 / Pack of 5

I believe this product was by far my favorite from this month’s box, and surprised me. They are thin crisp biscuits that have a great flavor! I was a little unsure at how tasty these would be, but I was proved wrong! They reminded me of a cinnamon graham cracker or a crispy ginger snap cookie.

 photo DSC_0140_zps74ccd847.jpg
Bonne Maman – Strawberry Preserves

$4.99 / 13 oz jar

Who doesn’t love some toast with strawberry preserves? Hard to go wrong with strawberry flavored anything. I will say that this preserve is nothing “outstanding or unique” in that it tastes like most other strawberry preserves. Still tasty though!

 photo DSC_0143_zps7080ed96.jpg
Erin Baker’s – Breakfast Cookie

$7.80 / 6 – 3oz Cookies

I received the Oatmeal Raisin breakfast cookie in my box. It was very delicious! Tasted exactly like a moist soft oatmeal raisin cookie. I would be happy to eat this for breakfast every morning. Morning treat!

 photo DSC_0142_zps7a15d10e.jpg
Jovan’s – All Natural Instant Breakfast

$7.99 / Pack of 5

This is a sweet and creamy breakfast drink. I would compare the flavor to cold hot cocoa. This is a great breakfast drink for on the go or a quick breakfast in the morning. Add to milk and shake!

 photo DSC_0137_zps006dd752.jpg
Nabisco – Newtons Triple Berry

$4.49 / Pack of 6

Now I love fig newtons, so naturally I knew I would love the triple berry. Triple berry is just like a fig newton but a little more tart. Packed with the flavors of blueberry, strawberry and raspberry wrapped in delicious whole grains.

I hope you will find this post helpful and consider joining Goodie’s box monthly subscriptions!

Marbled Easter Eggs

Hello Everyone!

I have been thinking of what I could post about/for Easter and then I remembered my tutorial of Marbled Easter eggs that I did for my old blog. So here you have it, a reboot for the new blog.

You will need:

    • Food coloring of your choice
    • Zip lock bags for each color
    • Boiled eggs
    • White vinegar

 photo DSC_0084-1_zpsd5395e4b.jpg

First, take your boiled eggs and lightly crack the shell all around the egg shell. Roll around on the counter lightly.

 photo DSC_0088_zps7fb04a0e.jpg
 photo DSC_0089_zpsf633f05f.jpg
Now stick your eggs into each bag and start dyeing. As I used liquid food coloring, all I did was pour in a tablespoon of dye into the bag.

 photo DSC_0092_zpsbf61e319.jpg
Next: Pour white vinegar over the eggs to keep the color in the egg.

 photo DSC_0094_zpsd170f552.jpg
Now peel the shell from the egg… and voila!

 photo DSC_0096_zps24b1b2f9.jpg
Beautiful eggs!! I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter! Take this time to spend it with the ones you love and cherish the most.

Navitas Naturals Snacks

Good Afternoon Everyone!

 photo DSC_0972_zps7d1d0b6e.jpg

Today I have a review for Navitas Naturals Snacks, a healthy and flavorful snack with all natural ingredients. Navitas Naturals is a family owned green business headquartered in Marin County, California. Who specialize in organic superfoods from around the world. Their mission is to provide premium functional foods that increase energy and promote health. Also to make it easy for people to experience optimal whole food nutrition.

I tried the Nativas Blueberry Hemp Snack and the Cacao Goji Superfood Snack Cacao Goji Superfood Snacks. They are neat little cubes packed full of flavor. The blueberry was my favorite, very strong blueberry flavor. I will say that the texture for me was a little bit of a hurdle to get past, but I’m weird like that. 😉

 photo navitashempsnack_zpsb4392d51.jpg

Hemp normally gets a bad rap as being associated with illegal drugs, however they are very nutritional and beneficial for you. Hemp seeds are easily digested and complete protein source that’s one of the richest vegetable sources of the Omega 3 & 6 essential fats. Hemp seed is an excellent source of fiber, vitamins and minerals such as magnesium, iron, zinc, and potassium.

Goji Berries are coined as the “super fruit” and contain many nutrients and phytochemicals including: amino acids, unsaturated fatty acids and essential vitamins.

Brothers All Natural Snacks

Good Day Everyone!

Today we have a review for Brothers All Natural snack products. Brothers All Natural has a wonderful assortment of 100% natural freeze dried crisps. The crisps contain no fat, no preservatives, and are very low in calories. The fruit crisps are processed at a facility that does not manufacture any products containing nuts, dairy, soy or wheat, for those who may be concerned about allergens. Every product is gluten free, soy free, peanut/tree nut free, dairy free, non GMO, vegan, and OU Kosher certified.
 photo DSC_0006_zps061db2b3.jpg
I was sent an assortment to sample of the crisps and I was pleasantly surprised. The weight of the crisps is the first thing I noticed, very light. Second was the texture / feel of the crisps, very light and airy as well. I will have to say that I was a little skeptical how they would taste. Best way that I can describe it, when you put the crisp in your mouth it “rehydrates” and tastes just as if you were eating fresh fruit. I would easily recommend this snack to any parent with kids on the go, hikers, campers you name it.

Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil Roasted Sweet Potatoes

Hello All!

I personally have never had sweet potatoes except for on Thanksgiving and smothered in marshmallows. Since the New Year generally brings resolutions of better health and weight loss, this is a perfect side dish for your baked chicken or fish dishes, very flavorful and tender.

Photobucket

Coconut oil has many uses, from cooking to home remedies and household uses. Since it is a stable cooking oil, one can simply replace unhealthy oils in their diet with coconut oil. Since it is a solid most of the time at room temperature or when refrigerated, it can be a butter or margarine substitute for spreads or for baking. Some body uses: lotion, hair conditioner, chap stick, lubricant, face mask, shaving cream.

Coconut Oil Sweet Potatoes

You Will Need:

1 1/2 tablespoons virgin coconut oil

1 3/4 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch chunks

2 teaspoons light brown sugar, packed

3/4 teaspoon kosher salt

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg.

Let’s Get Started!

Photobucket

Pre heat oven to 350 degrees. Melt the coconut oil in a small saucepan over low heat, does not take very long.

In a large bowl, toss together potatoes, coconut oil, sugar, salt, pepper and nutmeg.

Spread the potatoes in an even layer on a large baking sheet or roasting pan. Roast, tossing occasionally, until soft and caramelized, about 1 hour.

Allow to cool and enjoy!

Happy Family Organic Superfoods Review and Giveaway

Hello Everyone!

I apologize for going so long without posting, but I have been sick. This is often a slight consequence of having school age children. My son came home sick last weekend, and now that he is feeling better, I came down with it too. Oy vey!

Photobucket

Tonight we have a review for Happy Family Organic Super foods, Happy Time products for toddlers. My children LOVE to snack. They, like most children, are bottomless pits with an insatiable appetite. So naturally I wanted to find them a healthy but filling snack. This is when I looked to the Happy Times products. Their snacks are 100% natural! Certain products like “Veggie Buddies” are Gluten free, and others are Nut free. So it just depends on what your child’s needs are and determining which snack would be best for them.

Photobucket

I reviewed the: Veggie Buddies, Sunny Buddies and Mixed Fruit Yogis.

Photobucket

Veggies Buddies – Carrot Orange Apple Chews. They are very fruity tasting and are chewy, similar to most gummy snacks. Oldest child said these were his favorite.

Photobucket

Sunny Buddies – Sunflower butter and berry jam bites. These little morsels tasted just like a good old fashioned PB&J sandwich! These were my favorite of the snacks.

Photobucket

Mixed Fruit Yogis – Freeze Dried Yogurt Bites. Theses snacks were very flavorful and fruity. Interesting thing is that they melted in your mouth! My daughter said these were her favorite, but she said she loved all of them.

Over all I was very pleased with the Happy Times snacks and the quality and flavor. I would recommend these snacks to any family striving to provide a healthy but tasty treat for their little ones!
