Thirsty Planet Brewery – Austin, TX

Hello Everyone!

I hope you all made it through the week! If you need a drink after the work hustle settles, you should head over to Austin, TX and check out the Thirsty Planet Brewing tour on Saturday. Every Saturday this awesome micro-brewery has a beer tasting and tour from 11:00 am – 1:30 pm, the brewery closes at 3:00 pm. photo DSC_1384_zps98167ab4.jpg

As you arrive to the brewery, you can purchase a pint glass with 3 tickets. Your pint glass has the logo of one of their varieties of beer, very cute. From there you walk over to the bar and choose your beverage. Take your glass of refreshing beer and you can either sit at the tables indoors or they have a very nice patio outside with picnic tables. A very relaxing way to spend your late morning/early afternoon.

After a few drinks and a slight buzz you will have the opportunity to go on a tour of the facility. One of the brewery employees will walk around and announce when the next tour will take place, which is usually every 30 mins. If you do not know much about beer or the brewing process (I’m a newb) then this tour is great for you, very educational. The tour lasts about 30 mins, and takes you through the process from start to finish in the micro-brewery process, and ends with an open forum Q&A session.  Don’t be afraid to ask questions! The staff is so friendly and helpful. Our tour guide was dressed in a gorilla suit with a plaid shirt… which I later found out was for the Gorilla Bar Hop / Run. And I thought he just liked to dress up like this for the tours!

* Buckethead IPA – well balanced with the bitter and hint of sweet, with an aesthetic Amber color and a mildly citrus note.
* Thirsty Goat Amber – Lighter amber, malty but with a slight hoppy finish.
* Yellow Armadillo Wheat– It was light, crisp, and refreshing. This is a good starter beer for people just getting into craft beer.

American Flatbread Pizza

Hello Everyone!

I apologize for the long break in between posts, but sometime it is hard to get internet access, believe it or not. Today I have a review for American Flatbread, “homemade thin and crispy pizza baked in a wood fired oven.” Also have a giveaway for 2 coupons for FREE American Flatbread Pizza. Found this delicious pizza in my local whole foods store, but later on noticed it at HEB grocery stores. Love it when smaller companies break into the main stream market!

American Flatbread Mission Statement: It is the mission of American Flatbread to provide good, flavorful, nutritious food that gives both joy and health, and to share this food with others in ways sustainable to all.

 photo DSC_0184_zps1aa11686.jpg
This wonderful flat bread pizza contains all organic ingredients, such as: organically grown wheat, kosher salt, organic tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and the list goes on. Bottom line, all organic and delicious! I was very surprised at how much flavor this little pizza had! Definitely would recommend to anyone looking to still have pizza without giving up your organic diet / beliefs. Also this delicious dish is ready in 5-8 minutes. Preheat the oven to 425 F, place on the rack and *patiently* wait 5-8 minutes. VOILA! One really interesting fact about this company is that they build each of their flat bread ovens from the local geography. Their oven at the Marble Works in Middlebury has been built with a marble base, local to Middlebury. Also, their oven in Burlington Hearth is built of red rock, a common rock in the Burlington area.

Karma Wellness Water

Hello All!

Today I have a review for Karma Wellness Water! If you are a fitness buff, can not take pill form vitamins or just love to have a little something extra with your water, this drink is perfect for you. I personally can never remember to take my pills every day, (I’m worse than a kid!) but I do love to drink flavored water during the work day. So Karma is a perfect mix of flavor and convenience for me.

A little bit about Karma: Karma Wellness Water was created on the belief that if you do good for others or yourself, you will get something positive back in return. Make good choices and you will see and feel the benefits. Vitamins deteriorate in water, so mixed vitamin drinks can lose their strength over time. Since Karma keeps their vitamins separate until the time you choose to drink it, you are able to enjoy all of their benefits at full strength.

Navitas Naturals Snacks

Good Afternoon Everyone!

 photo DSC_0972_zps7d1d0b6e.jpg

Today I have a review for Navitas Naturals Snacks, a healthy and flavorful snack with all natural ingredients. Navitas Naturals is a family owned green business headquartered in Marin County, California. Who specialize in organic superfoods from around the world. Their mission is to provide premium functional foods that increase energy and promote health. Also to make it easy for people to experience optimal whole food nutrition.

I tried the Nativas Blueberry Hemp Snack and the Cacao Goji Superfood Snack Cacao Goji Superfood Snacks. They are neat little cubes packed full of flavor. The blueberry was my favorite, very strong blueberry flavor. I will say that the texture for me was a little bit of a hurdle to get past, but I’m weird like that. 😉

Hemp normally gets a bad rap as being associated with illegal drugs, however they are very nutritional and beneficial for you. Hemp seeds are easily digested and complete protein source that’s one of the richest vegetable sources of the Omega 3 & 6 essential fats. Hemp seed is an excellent source of fiber, vitamins and minerals such as magnesium, iron, zinc, and potassium.

Crofter’s Spread Review and “Jelly” Roll Cake Recipe

Hello All!

 photo DSC_0092_zps3a2bcee3.jpg

We have another wonderful review and giveaway today for Crofter’s Jam. A jam that is full of flavor and sweetened with Rainforest Alliance certified organic cane sugar.

 photo DSC_0064_zpsd7e94b2a.jpg

The two flavors that I tried were: Blood Orange and Morello Cherry. The Blood orange is a smooth jam, with a sweet and tart flavor. A blood orange tastes like an orange with a deeper taste. The Morello Cherry is also sweet and tart but I found it neat that it has the “casing” of the cherry still in the spread.

 photo DSC_0069_zpsc7233240.jpg

About Crofter’s: Crofter’s Organic has been making organic fruit products on the shores of the Georgian Bay in Parry Sound, Ontario, for 20 years.  They produce an extensive line of organic fruit spreads, conserves and jellies that are distributed throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Jelly Roll Cake Recipe

You Will Need:

4 Eggs, Separated

3/4 cup sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla

3/4 cup cake flour, sifted

3/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

Confectioners’ sugar, for dusting, sifted

1 cup jam or jelly, stirred well

Let’s Get Started!

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

In a small bowl beat egg whites until stiff but not dry and set aside.
 photo DSC_0071_zps33028228.jpg
In another bowl, beat the egg yolks until light. Gradually add the sugar and vanilla, and mix well. Mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the flour mixture to the egg yolk mixture.
 photo DSC_0076_zpscc51ebb1.jpg
Fold in the egg whites into the egg mixture.

 photo DSC_0080_zps63d3479b.jpg
Pour the batter into a 15 by 10 by 1-inch jelly roll pan lined with waxed paper / or a rectangle cake pan lined with tin foil and wax paper.  *When dealing with egg whites you need to make sure you FOLD, you don’t want to ruin those nice stiff peaks you just made, and have a dense cake*

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until the cake is golden.

 photo DSC_0082_zps8011cd1b.jpg

Loosen edges of cake, flip cake onto a towel dusted with confectioners’ sugar. Gently peel wax paper (or tin foil) off cake.
 photo DSC_0083_zps1e59991b.jpg
Begin with the narrow side and roll the cake and towel up together. Cool cake on rack, seam side down, for 10 to 15 minutes.

 photo DSC_0084_zps0dc296c5.jpg

Once cake has cooled, gently unroll and spread cake with jam or jelly and re-roll. Sprinkle with confectioners’ sugar or cover with whipped cream.
 photo DSC_0089_zps923a1bf6.jpg
Slice, serve and watch disappear!

Brothers All Natural Snacks

Good Day Everyone!

Today we have a review for Brothers All Natural snack products. Brothers All Natural has a wonderful assortment of 100% natural freeze dried crisps. The crisps contain no fat, no preservatives, and are very low in calories. The fruit crisps are processed at a facility that does not manufacture any products containing nuts, dairy, soy or wheat, for those who may be concerned about allergens. Every product is gluten free, soy free, peanut/tree nut free, dairy free, non GMO, vegan, and OU Kosher certified.
 photo DSC_0006_zps061db2b3.jpg
I was sent an assortment to sample of the crisps and I was pleasantly surprised. The weight of the crisps is the first thing I noticed, very light. Second was the texture / feel of the crisps, very light and airy as well. I will have to say that I was a little skeptical how they would taste. Best way that I can describe it, when you put the crisp in your mouth it “rehydrates” and tastes just as if you were eating fresh fruit. I would easily recommend this snack to any parent with kids on the go, hikers, campers you name it.

I was sent a variety pack from Krave to sample and review, and although they are all very tasty, my favorite is the Smoky Grilled Teriyaki Pork Jerky. I was very impressed with each of their flavors, very bold and distinct. The Garlic Chili Pepper Beef Jerky does has quite a kick to it, so fair warning!
